question of the remittance on the 10th. of September lies with Mohamed Ackber and Khawas Khan or either and that I have been rendered the victim of my misfortuns at the instance of others. I have made remittances to India on behalf of the Official Administrator in no less than one hundred cases during my time in the Registry and every one of them has gone through all right except this one and which I believe is the last remittance I made on behalf of the Official Administrator. I appeal to the Committee for its very serious consideration of the fact why I should have dealt in the manner alleged in the charges preferred against me with my last remittance on behalf of the Official Administrator. To consider this question the Committee would (as was desired by it) require some proof as to my financial standing between April and the 30th. of June last. I would deal with that later. I have, I hope, stated enough about Khawas Khan (The Committee intimated to me that for the purposes of this case it would believe that there was a family feud between my family and Khawas Khan's) to compel him to commit felony at his peril to get me into trouble and I would formally prove it if desired to do so. He has not got to put out anything like $3,000 to put me into trouble this time, but he has only got to take the advantage of the opportunity afforded to him by his position in the Loney Order Office at Kowloon, where I and Mohamed Ackber reside. It was not his practice as he admitted to ask persons tendering money to be remitted "who is sending it", but he did it this time as an Indian was tendering the money. At the Kowloon Loney Order Office the majority of the remitters are Indian sepoys from the Indian Regi- -ments stationed there, and I submit the man tendering the 113.95 could not have been the only Indian remitter that day, and a perusal of the books in the loney Order Office would show this. I request the Committee to seriously consider the question why did Khawas Khan make a special case of this remittance and asked the Indian tendering the 113.93 unusual questions. I submit nothing of the sort was done on the day of this remittance by Khawas Khan, and that his story in that respect is a concocted one for the purposes
