It was again put to me as to why Mohamed Ackber should have remitte the $100 on the 14th. of June last assuming that he retained the whole of the $213.93 until that date. My answer to that is he knew on the 14th, of June last that he was being transferred to my post and if you (the Committee) believe that Mohamed Ackber was against me and would put me introuble if he could I would submit he could not have got a better chance of doing it he having in his possession an application for Money Order for 100 in my hand- -writing which I could not deny. He put it in order to clinch my
connection with the case.

It was further more put to me as to why the remittance of $113.93 on the 10th. of September last should have been made. My xxxrer answer to that is that it was a very ingenious piece of work on the part of both Mohamed Ackber and Khawas Khan in perfect- -ing my guilt in the matter. I submit that if I were guilty of this charge I had abundant opportunities of getting myself out of it long before the 10th. of September last. Assuming that I remitted the $100 on the 14th. of June last I would ask you (the Committee) to consider why did I not remit the other $113.93 on
that date or at any rate before the 30th. of June last if I had the money to do it with. I submit enquiries from the Money Order Office would show that I remitted the sum of $110 to India on my private account ( 100 of it was lent to an Indian, Abbas Khan) and the applications in both cases are in the handwriting of Mohamed Ackber and if you believe that part of my statement I most respectfully request the Committee to say that I was unaware on the lath, of June last when I remitted the 110 that a figüre of 8113.93 was outstanding "gainst me and that had I known it that I would have rather made it good in order to get myself out of a criminal offence than to have remitted pocket money for my young-
