The Registrar, Mr. Nisbet, knew that I handled cash moneys not only in small sums but in sun as large as $1,200.00. He often handed or sent to me cash himself. He often either handed or sent to me cash received by him direct from Solicitors concerned for fees payable in stamps in Probate matters. He and his Deputies often nanded me cheques and cash on behalf of the Official Administrator for payment of Probate Duty and Court Fees and the Official Administrator (The Registrar, Ir. Nisbet) owes me the sum of 60 cents advanced by me on his behalf towards interest payable on the Probate Duty in re Leung Chen Thi deceased. On my present- -ing the Letters of Administration at the Treasury to be stamped I was told that the interest payable on the Probate Duty had been under-calculated to the aliount of 65 cents and I paid it in order to complete the matter and reported the fact to Mr. Lee-Jones who i promised to pay we later out of the Estate. I have not yet been paid. On several occasions Kr. Nisbet handed me open cheques and cash for the purchase of stamps in payment of Solicitors admission fees payable in stamps and sent by mistake by the Solicitors con- -cerned by cheques or cash.
It is not true that ne did not know that I handled cash in tue Registry.
My statement with regard to handling cash contrary to General Orders is supported by Lessrs. Lee-Jones and LoMderry. Er. Lee-Jones stated that I did handle orsh in the Registry to the cognizance of the Registrar, Er. Nisbet, and his Deputies and that I received fees from pauper people in cash for purchase of adhesive stamps. Kr. McElderry stated that he assumed the fact that I was handling cash in the registry and received moneys in cash from pauper people for purchase of adhesive stamps.
I respectfully submit that I was not the only subordinate in the Registry who handled cash but that everyone inclusive of the messengers handled it to the cognizance of the Registrar and with
his assent Mr. Niabet's statement with regard to handling of cash
