AN. 26 JANN
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 5th. January, 1914.

Sir,
Admy 40756

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
your Confidential Despatch of the 27th. November transmitting a copy of correspondence with the Admiralty on the subject of the Wireless Telegraph Station to be erected at Cape D'Aguilar,
་
Do. 2.
With regard to the point raised in the third paragraph of the letter of the 24th. November from the Admiralty it appears that prior to 1906 the annual cost to this Government of the Peak and CapeD'Aguilar Stations amounted, as regards wages, to the sum of $888 and 8612 respectively, and there were in addition certain small expenses in mich the same proportion; and consequent- -ly the round sum of $2,000 was taken as representing the cost of the upkeep of both the Stations. It will be seen that the ex- -penditure was formerly apportioned between the Stations in the ratio approximately of 3: 2 and I have accordingly to suggest
5 5
that this Government should in future pay annually to the Naval Authorities the sum of $1,200, being three-fifths of the sum of 82,000, in respect of the upkeep of the Peak Station.
I have the honour to be, sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
