The German Consul at Hong Kong has reported that Mr. R.A.J.Savago, Superintendent of Maile at
Hong Kong, during the last six years has always shown
the greatest consideration to meet the wishes of the
Consulate as well as those of the officers in Command
of Ships of the German Navy with regard to the delivers:
of mails. Requests for alterations in the directi
J
of the naval mails, by necessity often made at the
moment and involving therefore no small amount of extra
work to the Postal officials, have always met with his
kind and ready response. Repeatedly his personal
intervention has been instrumental for a considerably
earlier delivery of the mails to German war vessels,
which were absent from Hong Kong •
As Mr. Savage is now on leave of absence in
England and as there appears to be a likelihood that
he will not return to Hong Kong in the near future the
Imperial Government has instructed the German Embassy
to inform the British Government that the Admiral in
Command of the German Cruiser Squadron in the Far
as well as the German Consul at Hong Kong desire and
beg to have conveyed to Mr. Savage their best thanks
for the kind and courteous way in which he has always
met their wishes.
Mr. Savage's address is said to be:
33, Anson Place, Plymouth.
