In reply to your letter of the 7th July, I

am directed to inform you that His Excellency Sir Henry May

is of opinion that the best course in the circumstances

will be to put the land in question up to auction in the

erdinary manner upon the following terms :-

The Purchaser to construct such retaining walls as may be necessary to prevent landslips in the event of his carrying out levelling operations on the area.

(1). The Purchaser to make such provision for drainage of buildings as the Director of Public Works may require. Any foul waters to be treated in such manner as the Director of Public Works may approve before being dis- charged into any stream-bed or over Crown land.

(g). In the event of the government being called upon to provide a supply of filtered water to the area, the Purchaser shall contribute, on demand, the sum of $20,000
