Portuguese Housing Scheme
On the instructions of the Hon. Mr.C.Montague Ede we
have the honour to address you as follows :-
1. We beg to refer you to Mr Ede's Petition herein and
its accompanying scheme.
2. Mr.Ede understands that His Excellency' a Government is in sympathy with the scheme and disposed generally to forward same. In this understanding, Mr. Ede desires to bring the matter to a head with a view to obtain the necess- ary formal sanction from the Government and to take the necessary steps in regard to the financial side of the
proposition,
3. It is now proposed to erect 100 houses to begin with,

and chapel building. The Hong Kong Electric Tramway Company have agreed to extend their system to the proposed alte. And it is in contemplation to arrange for a system
of electric lighting.
4. The setting up of a body of Trustees being essential, the Hon. Sir Paul Chater, C.H.G., the Hon. Mr.C.H.Ross,
and Mr.N.J.Stabb, together with Kr.Ede himself, are the names proposed in this connection and they are willing to
act, subject as hereinafter mentioned.

In addition to the formal sanction of the scheme and a
Crown Lease of the area to be developed, an incorporation Ordinance appears necessary. We are to inquire if we may
submit a draft Ordinance for the consideration of the
