have been performing since my appoinment to the Hongkong prison service has been quite apart from, and distinct to that

of the office I have been paid to perform.

11. My object in bringing the above fact■ before your

notive is to respectfully bring the pension mimute to your

notise. I feel confident that you Sir will agree with me that I should have received some recognition for the work

#

Siren.

I have performed for the service apart from the services I

was paid to perform.

12. This was the view held certainly by the late Super-

intendent of the prison for on handing in my application to

be permitted to retire on pension, he in forwarding my paper

suggested that I might come under the clause in question.

The present Superintendent also supported that view.

It is with diffidence I address you on the matter but I feel

that clause 7 of 1902 Pension minute was must have been framed

to meet such a case as mine. It distinctfully states any ser-

vice rendered altogether in excess and beyond that for which

the officer is paid to perform.

I could quote if necessary a number of papers wherein

my name has been mentioned regarding work I have oarried out quite unconnected with the office of Asst. Superintendent

which office is on a par with that of Governor in the home

convict prison.

Trusting Sir you will see the justice of my claim to

some benifit under the pension minute quoted above.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your Obedient Servant,

Pocheming
