From JOHN W. WALKER, Esq., M.A Teacher of Supple- mentary Course (Boys' Class), now HM Inspector of Schools.

Gilmore Place Public School, Edinburgh, 29th April 1910.

This is to certify that Mr W. KAY has been engaged in the practice of teaching supplementary Course work for one period per week, from October 1909 to April 1910, in this school. During that time I have had ample opportunity of observing his painstaking and thorough methods of work which never fail to call forth diligent efforts from the pupils under his charge. He has a very accurate knowledge of the best mode of presenting a subject to the minds of the young, and he is most vigorous in working out the essential points of every lesson.

He makes every part of school work as interesting as possible, and his sympathetic manner always secures the desired results. Mr Kay has no difficulty in maintaining discipline of the best kind, and on every occasion when he has been in charge of my class very useful and profitable work has been done.

JOHN W. WALKER.
