We wrote you on 19th December on the subject of
It is a exportation of whisky to the East Indies. coincidence that we have this morning received from another firm a letter on the subject of whisky for Bangkok Siam. Our correspondents remark as follows:-
"The Hamburg exporters export large quantities
"at prices below yours".
This seems to us to confirm our opinion that Con- tinental whisky is being shipped at very low prices and when this whisky reaches the East Indies, the buyers do not know it from genuine Scotch Whisky and the bona- fide whisky trade here suffers in consequence. We think this subject calls for investigation by your department and we again respectfully suggest that you should instruct your Representatives in the various East Indian markets
to ascertain the true facts of the case with a view to
the Scotch Whisky trade being adequately protected. We
