would appear only to date from 1898. Dr. Johnson al 30 held an appointment as assistant Colonial Surgeon on
the Gold Coast from 1892 to 1896, so that he has
actually been longer in the Colonial bervice than
Dr. Bell.
I trust that these particulare will serve to convince you that in appointing Dr. Johnson to the
post my sole idea has been to obtain the best officer
available for the appointment.
