In reply to your letter of the 20th instant forwarding a copy of correspondence in the case of Tracey Woodward, I am directed by Mr. Secretary McKenna to say, for the information of Mr. Secretary Harcourt, that on the Sist January, the Metropolitan Police received a cablegram frem the Governor of Hong Kong requesting that steps might be taken for the arrest of this man, and he was arrested on the 19th February under a Provisional Warrant issued by the Chief Magistrate. On the receipt of your letter Mr. Mckenna gavo instructions for the prisoner's release forthwith.
