Questions asked in the House of Commons, January 6, 1913.
Mr. Charles Roberts, To ask the Under-Secretary of State for India whether there is now any intention on the part of the Government to terminate the Opium Agreement of 1911 in accordance with article 7 of that agreement, in order to improve the position of the importers of opium into China; and whether the sales of opium in Calcutta and Bombay will now be suspended.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, and as regards the second part the Government of India have taken steps to suspend the sale of certified opium.
