M. le Sous Secrétaire,
As I had the honour to inform your Department in
my Tote No 181, of October 12th last, I forwarded your com-
munication of September 26th concerning the Claim of the
China Comercial Stonnship Compary to His Majesty's Govern-
ment for their consideration.
It will be within the recollection of Your Excel-
lonoy that it was the proposal of His Majesty's Government
to arrive at a settlement of this flaim by means of discus-
sion between a representative of the Hexican Government and
aropresentative appointed by the Company who should arrive
at a just figure for indemnifying the Company for their
losses, but that in the Note from your Department of Sep-
tember last, this solution was rejected.
