(No. Referring to your letter of the 30th November last, 36,409/1912), forwarding the copy of a Despatch, with its enclosures, from the Governor of Hong Kong respecting the recognition by the General Medical Council of Degrees in Medicine conferred by the University of Hong Kong, I am directed by the Lord President of the Council to state, for the information of Mr. Secretary Harcourt, that His Lordship is advised that the conditions of practice in Hong Kong appear to be equitable, and to afford a just basis for establishing reciprocity with regard to medical practice between the Colony and the United Kingdom, and His Lordship proposes accordingly to submit to The King, at the Council to be held by His Majesty, on Friday the 7th March next, the Draft of an Order applying Part II of the Medical Act, 1886, to the Colony of Hong Kong.
It is suggested that the Order in question should take effect from the first day of the month succeeding its approval,
i.e. from the 1st April next.
