With reference to your letter of the 30th August No.29576/13 regarding the pension

payable to the widow of Mr. A.T.Walker from

the Widows & Orphans Fund of Hong Kong, I have

the honour to transmit a copy of a letter which

we have received from Mr. T.C.Newman relative

to the question whether death duties are payable

in respect of this pension.

2. We propose to reply that we know

of no case of the kind in which death duties

have been paid or claimed, but that we can

give no opinion in the matter, or assist him except

by sending for his information copies of the

laws and regulations relating to the Widows &

Orphans Fund.

3. If the Secretary of State approves

of this reply we shall be obliged if you will

furnish us with copies of the laws and regulations

for loan to Mr. Newman,
