Sir,

Colonial Secretary's Office,

Hongkong, 6th. May, 1912.

213

In reply to your letter No. 339 of April, 1912,

on the subject of sites for the erection by the Admiralty of stor- -age tanks for oil fuel, I am directed to inform you that sites B and C are not available, the former being intended for the railway terminus and the latter being privately owned, but that there is no objection to the disposal of site A for the purpose.

2.

The Colonial Government would however desire to

take advantage of the opportunity to improve the alignment of Canton Road at this point which is at present far from satisfactory In this connection I enclose a plan showing the proposed new lot edged in red together with the proposed diversion of Canton Road in firm red lines. The portion of Kowloon Marine Lots Nos. 35 and 41 which it is proposed should be surrendered by the Admiralty for the purpose of the improvement of the road is edged in blue.

3.

The following are the terms on which the

Colonial Government would be prepared to recommend to the Secretary of State for the Colonies the alienation to the Admiral- -ty of the area edged in red:-

I per square foot

Crow Rent on 188,170 sq.ft. at
