Sergeant J.Lenaghan,

- ??

Since the beginning of 1912 J. Lenaghan has had frequent

admissions to the Civil Hospital, and four admissions to the

Lunatic Asylum. Of these 8 come under the heading of Alcoholism.

This disease with him has never been of the grosser kind such as

gastritis, hepatitis, neuritis, delirium tremens &c., but has been

invariably characterised by facts of moroseness accompanied by

delusions. These after a few days rest and freedom from alcohol

have passed away.

In view of the family history of mental instability

his brother having been invalided for this cause I am of opiniom that this hereditary taint is a great predisposing factor in his complaint as it renders him less able to exercise self control and that a very small amount of alcohol upsets his mental balance.

Superintendent.
