Summary of Reports of piratical attacks committed outside

the jurisdiction of the Colony of Hongkong.

25th. September, 1913.

Kwok Hon, Master of the S.S."Licorne" under the Chinese flag,

crew of 47, no arus reported at 7.30 a.m. 25th. instant that the

above ship left the wharf at Wing Lok Street at 7 p.m. 24th.

instant for Wuchow with 14 passengers and general cargo. All went

well until about 10.30 p.m. when the ship was off Ki 0 in Chinese

waters near Macao Island. The quartermaster named Ah So and the pilot were at the wheel, he was in his cabin lying down, the door of the cabin being open, 2 men whom he can identify as passengers from Hongkong came into his cabin, they were armed with revolvers and knives. He was ordered to vacate his cabin and while doing so, one of the men struck him with a knife cutting his jacket and singlet and causing a slight scratch on his right side. They ordered him to go down to the tween decks and then put him in the after hold where some of the crew and about 4 of the passengers wer the cover was then placed over the hold. After he and other people had been in the hold for about an hour the cover was taken off by the Compradore and some of the crew, when he got on deck he found that the ship was at anchor off Sarpan Chau about 10 miles from Ki 0. The robbers had all left the ship taking with them 2 of the ship's boats, with the name Licorne on each, 2 chests of opium value about $9,000 and 8 cases of cargo and about $1,000 in money from the compradore. During the time the robbers were on board several shots were fired and 8 persons were injured. The robbers boarded the ship in Hongkong as passengers.
