I am directed to convey to you His Excellency the Governor's high estimation of your courageous conduct on the occasion of the recent piracy of the S. S. "Tai On" and to informa
you that steps are being taken to procure a Bible and Travelling
Clock for presentation to you by this Government as a mark of its
appreciation of the valuable assistance you rendered to the
officers of the ship and to the passengers whereby the sacrifice
of life was prevented.
