Sir,
12916
GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 23rd. September, 1913.
With reference to Sir F. H. May's Despatch
No. 97 of the 25th. of Larch, I have the honour to inform you that
Mr. Hubback has now supplied the drawings and schedule for the steelwork over the ground floor of the Station building.
2.
The Manager of the Railway is of opinion that it would be more expeditious and economical to call for tenders for the supply of this steelwork locally as there are several firms in a position to carry out the work satisfactorily. I have therefore sanctioned the preparation of the specification and the publication of an advertisement for tenders. The approximate weight of the steelwork in question is seventy tons, and the estimated cost about
$6,300.
3.
I should be glad to learn by telegraph if you consider that the steel work should be ordered through the Crown
Agents and not locally.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LEWIS HARCOURT, M.P.,

&C..
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
huble servant,
Cland Severn
Officer Administering the Covernment.
