I have the honour to confirm my telegram of the

11th. September which was as follows:-

"Regret to inform you of the death of Laughton, police

force, pneumonia, September 10th."

and to report with regret that E.P.C. A 36 William Laughton, who

joined the police force last year from the Infantry Regiment then

stationed in Hongkong, was admitted to Hospital suffering from pneumonia on the 7th. instant and died in the Government Civil

Hospital on the 11th. idem.

I enclose herewith a copy of the report made by

the Superintendent, Government Civil Hospital.

With reference to your telegram of the 11th.

September I regret that no address of his relatives was sent in my

telegram, but it was understood that the list of addresses for 1913, on which P.C. Laughton's name appears, would have already reached the Colonial Office, but on enquiry I am informed that it was not

sent until the 1st. instant.

His estate will be administered by the Captain Superintendent of Police and any effects will be sent to his

father in due course.
