I have the honour to confirm my telegram of 25th. August "Harris, police force, died of gunshot wound self-

-inflicted today" and to report with regret the death of P. C. A 58

J. W. Harris.

In view of the unusual character of the case I

enclose a copy of the depositions taken at the inquest, which led to the verdict that the deceased not being of sound mind did kill

himself.
