The period covered is from 1st July 1912 to June

30th 1913, but as Inspector Watson alone was collecting in

July 1912, the results of the collection by the Sanitary

Staff for July 1913 have been included for comparative

purposes.

The number of visits paid and the number of houses

in which larvae were found are shown on the attached table Cart

but they may be briefly summarised as follows :-

Total visits....17,361

Inspector Watson confined his visits to the Streets lying

nearest to the Harbour, the area searched by him being :-

The Praya from Kennedy Town to Causeway Bay by

Queen's Road West, Pokfulum Road, Bonham Road down Eastern

Street to Queen's Road, along Queen's Road to Wanchai Road

and hence to Valley and Causeway Bay. Taking on an average

every 4th house, this area was gone over by him on several

accasions so this area may be considered to have been very

thoroughly searched.

ו'.

The Sanitary Staff visits were not restricted to

any special area but were spread over the whole City of

Victoria, If the number of dwelling houses is taken as about

8,700, then the number of visits paid by the Sanitary Staff

is equal to roughly two per house.
