done so for 2 or 3 years, and are now to some extent trained

Juz6 teachers. I have recommended in my Despatch No. 295 of 15th.

August, 1913, that a scale of salaries be adopted for them as

follows:-

examination, at the Institute.

3480 in 3rd year, conditional on passing 2nd, year'a

8600 in 4th. year, conditional on passing 3rd. year's

The above changes are in organisation only, and

do not affect the numbers of the Staff at Kowloon School; but the Director of Education asks for an additional Student Teacher on

8240 per annum, and for this I ask your sanction.

Victoria School. According to the estimates for the current year, the Staff of the Victoria School differs from that of the Kowloon School, in as much as it includes no mistresses engaged from home, but only 2 3rd. Grade Assistant Mistresses. This distinction will be partly removed when Mrs. Bishop receives her promotion to be an Assistant Mistress next year (vide my Despatch No. 19 of 17th. January, 1913). I have noW to recommend that the remaining post of 3rd. Grade Assistant Mistress be abolished, and that for it there be substituted the appointment of another Assistant Mistress on £200 to £220.
