No. D/2096/11.

No. 22.

420

Head Quarters,

Hongkong, 26th. September, 1911.

Your Excellency,

In reply to your letter No. 1 in 134/1906, of

the 16th. instant, I have the honour to concur in your suggestions

as regards the approach road.

2.

With reference to the proposed Eastern Boundary

of the Clearance Area, access to that portion of the Cemetery which falls within this Boundary, but outside the actual Battery Area, will not be interfered with.

3.

With reference to the North-Eastern Boundary,

there is no Military objection to this being taken on the line A.B.C. as now shown in yellow on the plan.

4.

It is considered that the terms of holding the Clearance Area as a Military Reserve should be embodied in a separate agreement, similar to that for the Sywan Military Reserve. In the meantime, it is hoped that the Memorandum of Transfer of the Battery Area may be completed as early as possible, as War Office is pressing for it.

5.

A plan is enclosed for retention showing the

Clearance Area as finally determined.

I have etc.,

(Sd.) C. A. Anderson,

Major-General,

Commanding the Troops, South China

Command.

His Excellency

The Governor,

Hongkong.
