Sir,
Not.
Public Works Office,
Hongkong, 6th. January, 1913.

I have the honour to address you, requesting that additional remuneration be granted to me from the 9th. September,
1912.
I beg to point out that since that date I have been acting as an Executive Engineer, having, by your instructions, been in charge of the whole of the work previously under Mr. H. G.
Fisher's care.
I would also like to state that, with the object of meeting your expressed wish, viz., to complete the necessary work for the letting of the contract for the erection of Quarters for Subordinate Officers, at the earliest possible date, I have worked nearly 50 hours overtime.
Lastly, may I be permitted to say that, although in charge of nearly all the important buildings being or about to be erected by the Public Works Department, I am receiving salary something less than that at present enjoyed by several Assistant
Engineers.
I trust that you will be able to recommend the granting of my request and beg that you will be so good as to lay the matter before His Excellency the Governor.
I have etc.,
(Sd.) Marshall Wood.
To
Hon. Mr. W. Chatham, C.M.G.
