I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 30th. ultimo. In reply to the charges made I have only to say that I absolutely deny both of them; and beg to point out that on both occasions I was on duty and in uniform, and that it is hardly likely that I should visit the premises in question on a second occasion if I had been guilty of the offence
which it is alleged was committed by me on the first occasion.
I am ready to have the matter investigated to
its fullest extent.
