Sir,
The Harbour Master reported to me on the 3rd.
of last April that the Wigham Lights on the Fairway Buoys had been causing trouble lately, that at best they give but a poor light and are not distinctive, and that they have to be continually visited in order to keep them burning properly. I, therefore, authorized him to make an experiment on Green Island with lights of the "Aga" system. This apparatus has now been on trial for a month with most satisfactory results. The light has burned day and night without a hitch throughout that time and I attach a report by Mr. F. A. Cole- -man, Lightkeeper at Green Island, on the subject.

In these circumstances I have the honour to recommend that four buoys, viz.:- 2 Fairway buoys, the Cust Rock buoy, and one spare buoy should be fitted with the "Aga" apparatus. The Harbour Master estimates the cost involved as follows; -
Apparatus complete...
Alterations to each buoy, to
enable it to carry the appara- -tus.

The initial cost for 4 buoys will, therefore, be £258 0
0, to which must be added £3 16 0 for one set of tools used in
connection with the apparatus, i,e. £261. 16 0 in all. Whe
