The following Order, numbered 166 a,
the General Orders of the Hongkong Government:-
166.
-
(1). A Private Secretary or Aide-de-Camp to the
Governor is entitled to leave as follows:-
(a). He way, on the certificate of a Government Medical
Officer, be granted sick leave on full pay for a period not exceed-
-ing twenty-eight days in any one calendar year.
(b). He may, in the discretion of the Governor, be granted
vacation leave on full pay for a period not exceeding two months
during and in respect of any one calendar year's service or for a
period not exceeding three months during and in respect of any
two consecutive year*s' service; provided that he shall not be
entitled to vacation leave in the absence of the Governor from the
Colony or after the Governor ceases to draw salary from the Colony.
(c). In lieu of vacation leave he may be allowed half pay
leave within the limits in (b) during the absence on leave of the
Governor.
(d). When such officer first takes up his appointment he shall be entitled to draw half pay for such period, not exceeding
six weeks, as may be occupied by his voyage to the Colony. On
relinquishing his appointment he shall be entitled to draw half
pay for such period, not exceeding six weeks, as may be necessary to enable him to reach the destination to which he desires to pro-
-ceed. If such officer remains in the Colony after relinquishing
his appointment he shall not be entitled to leave.
(2). When the substantive appointment of Private
Secretary or Aide-de-Camp is vacant, or when the holder of such
appointment is absent on leave or for any other cause, the Governor
may in his discretion grant either full pay or half pay to such
officer as may perform the duties of the appointment.
