Gentlemen,

Rec?
In continuation of my letter of 22nd April, I
am directed to inform you that a sample was procured from Manila
of the Opium seized on board the 3. S. "Loongsang" and an analysis shows that it cannot be identified as opium prepared by the Hong-
-kong Farmer.
2.
I am to add that from investigations made it
appears that this opium was shipped at Amoy as ordinary cargo for
trans-shipment at Hongkong for Manila.
I am etc.,
(Ed.) A. M. Thomson,
Colonial Secretary.
