We have the honour to sēknowledge the receipt

of your letter of the 22nd. instant, (No. 4020/1912), and we are pleased to note therefrom that His Excellency the Governor is at present in communication with His Britannic Majesty's Consul- -General at Manila in connection with Opium smuggling between Hong- -kong and the Philippines, and we await with interest your further

advices.
