Enclosure 2.
The Colonial Secretary,
Sir,
9, Queen's Road,
Hongkong, 25th. March, 1913.
Travellers Hotel.
270
On behalf of Mrs. Esther Oliver we have the honour to ask that you will be good enough to reconsider the question as to immediate payment to her of any compensation that way be granted her for the loss of her licence.
The position of the matter is that if the Government had not decided that no licences would be granted after 1915 our client would have been able to sell her hotel and the goodwill thereof as a going concern but in view of no licence to be grant→ -ed after 1915 she cannot of course find a purchaser. She is anxious to leave the Colony, and it is certainly a hardship upon her to force her to remain till 1915 in order to get her compensa- -tion.
We have etc.,
(Sd.) Wilkinson and Grist.
