Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that an
application has been received from lir. C. H. Gale, Second Assistant
Director of Public Works, for extra remuneration on account of his
having taken charge of the maintenance of telegraphs and telephones
from the date of the departure of Mir. H. P. Tooker up to the 31st.
October last.

The same reasons exist in this case as in the
case of Mr. Tooker who was granted a gratuity by your Despatch No. 12744 133 of the 4th. May, last and I have therefore to recommend that Mr.
12-
Gale be granted a similar gratuity the amount of which has been calculated in his case at £20 sterling.
