1.

A BILL

to amend the Merchant Shipping

Ordinance 1899.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

Short title.

This Ordinance may be cited as The Merchant Shipping

Ordinance 1913 and shall be read and construed as one

with the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1899 (hereinafter

called the Principal Ordinance) and this Ordinance and

the said Ordinance may be cited together as the Merchant

Shipping Ordinances 1899 and 1913.

2.

Sub-section 2 of Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is

hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following

paragraph:-

(f) If the ship being a British ship or a Colonial

ship is fitted with a Wireless Telegraphic

Installation, with at least one Wireless Tele-

-graphic Operator who holds a valid and sub-

-sisting certificate of competency to act as

a Wireless Telegraphic Operator such certifi-

-cate having been granted under the provisions of any enactment of Great Britain or of any British Colony or Possession or of this Colony.
