-In continuation of my despatch of

the 4th.instant, I have the honour to inform you

that I have acceded to a request by Mr.Badeley

for 2 months vacation leave on urgent private

affairs from the 19th.instant, upon which date he

leaves the Colony. Mr. Badeley's service entitles

him to the leave, and in the circumstances of the

case I trust that you will approve my action.

Mr.Badeley made a further request to be

allowed to see any despatches I had addressed to

you on the subject of his administration of the

Police Force. I replied that the request was an

unusual one and that I could not accede to it
