Unaware that the practice in this Colony
one of was that an application to be appointed His Majesty's
A King' Counsel for the Colony should be made through your Honour, I addressed on the 24th instant to His Excellency through the Colonial Secretary, an appli- cation that I might be appointed the King's Counsel
of the Colony.
His Excellency informed me in reply that
I should communicate to your Honour my desire to have my name submitted to The Secretary of State to be appointed a King's Counsel and that on receipt of your Honour's recommendation His ExcellencyTM would
act.
I accordingly very respectfully venture to
u express the hope that your Honour would be good enough to communicate with His Excellency and re-
commend my aplication.
I forward you herewith
(a) Copy of the Minute which I wrote to the Colo-
nial Secretary

the copy of the application which I asked should
be forwarded to The Secretary of State
a copy of the enclosure which I added to my
Minute to the Colonial Secretary.
This will I think give your Honour all
the information which may be necessary, but I should
