Sir,
I have the honour to ask if you would be so good as to obtain for this Coverment any information that may be available as regards the use in the United Kingdom or elsewhere of the "Harker" System of Fumigating Ships of which some particulars are given in the enclosed pamphlets. It is particularly desired that the views of the Board of Trade on the system should be
obtained.

In this connection I enclose a letter address-
-ed to Dr. J. W. Noble of longkong by the Surgeon in charge of the U. S. Public Health Service at the Port of Philadelphia and a
minute by Dr. G. P. Jordan, Health Officer of the Port.
3.
I should be glad if you would return the
pamphlets in due course.
