The person sent out must agree to serve for three years, after which if the Government desire to retain his services he may be taken on to the permanent staff. In case of his leey. ing of his own accord or on account of diamissał before the termination of his agreement, the passage money paid for the voyage to Hong Kong must be refunded. If taken on to the permanent staff his salary will be subject to a deduction of four per cent per annum towards the Widows and Orphans' Fund, and the right to a free return passage to England will be cancelled. →
