Crown Rent would in ordinary circumstances be charged at the rate of $100.00 per acre.

I referred the matter to the Executive Council who were unanimous in recommending that a free grant of the site should be made. I concur in this recommendation and shall be glad if you can see your way to sanction it, subject to the following conditions:-
(a). The land to be used only for purposes of a recrea-
-tion ground for the University students.
(b). The land only to be resumed if required for a
public purpose.
(c). If the land is so resumed within fifteen years from
the date of the grant, the actual sum spent on level -ling to be refunded.
(d). Crown Rent to be at the nominal rate of $1.00 per
acre.
The cost of levelling, which is estimated at between $10,000 and $20,000, has been guaranteed by private
individuals.
