The prohibition of circulation would not interfere with inter-
-national trade in the least degree.
It should always be remembered that the alleged subsidiary coinage issued in China exists at a rate higher than its intrinsic value solely by virtue of its being a plausible imitation of the Hongkong coins.
It will be noted too that lower down in the Home Treasury's letter
it is expected that China itself would prohibit the circulation of the
so-called subsidiary coinage after tas introduction of a proper coin- -age schane.
Seeing that this expectation is held in regard to China and
Chinese coins it would appear to be logical to regard it as a convic- -tion when appled to Hongkong and Chinese coins.
