I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of His

Maje

jesty's Treasury Mr. Lambert's letter of the 17th instant You

(27/41/1912) and its enclosures, relative to the grant from Imperial funds for the purposes of the University of Hong

Kong.

In reply I am to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Harcourt that My Lords now authorize payment of £300 to the University in respect of the year commencing 1st September 1912 and thereafter in each succeeding year.

As regards 1913/14 and following years They approve provision being made accordingly in the Colonial Services Estimate, while as to the first payment in respect of the period 1st September 1912 to 31st August 1913 They agree that a special subhead may be opened in that Vote for the current financial year, provided that the expenditure be met from

savings on the Vote generally.
