Sir,

India Office, September 28, 1912. IN continuation of my letter dated the 26th September, 1912, on the subject of the alleged destruction of Indian opium by the authorities of the province of Anhui, I am directed by the Secretary of State for India in Council to inform you that he concurs in Sir Edward Grey's proposal to approve the suggestion of Sir J. Jordan that His Majesty's consul-general at Shanghai should be dispatched in a war-ship to investigate this incident on the spot.
