India Office, June 26, 1912. I AM directed by the Secretary of State for India in Council to forward for the information of Sir Edward Grey, and for such action as he may consider desirable, a copy of a telegram received from the Government of India on the subject of an opium proclamation alleged to have been issued in the Kiangsi province of China. Sir E. Grey is aware of the extreme importance of the matter to ludiau interests.

June 21, 1912. SASSOONS and other opium merchants complain that a proclamation has been issued Kiangsi province to establish a monopoly of sales opium from 1st July and to suppress trade in December next. They request British Government will strongly protest. Kiangsi principally consumes Indian opium.
