With reference to despatch No 86 of

February 20th last on the subject of the claim prosented

on behalf of the Goverment of Hongkong on account of

the suspension of traffic on the Canton-Kowloon railway Vai Ching Fu June 20,1912” from November 7 to Decuber 13 last, I have the honour

to report that on February 21st I received a reply from

the Wai Chino Pu acknowledging the liability of the

Chinese authorities under the Working Agreement, but

stating that they must await the report of the Canton-

Kowloon Railway Office before the exact sun due could

be fixed.

On June 2nd I received from the Officer Admin-

istering the Government of Hongkong a revised estimate

of the claim, whereby the amount was reduced from

87.432-50 to 86,971-50. It had been found that the

total of 85,731-48 per mensen had been emoneously

divided by 31 days instead of by 334 days
