trananit to you herewith copy of a despatch from His

Majesty's Minister at Peking recommending the prohibi-

tion of the importation of Turkish and Persian Opium

into Hongkong.

I am to inform you that Sir E. Grey agrees with

Sir J. Jordan in considering that this step is desir-
