SECTION 1.
(No. 183.) Šir,
Sir Edward Grey to Sir J. Jordan.
Foreign Office, June 8, 1912. I TRANSMIT to you herewith copy of a letter from the Colonial Office enclosing copies of correspondence that has passed between that Department and the India Office on the subject of the prohibition of importation into Hong Kong of Turkish and Persian opium.*
In a report by the Attorney-General of Hong Kong, dated 4th September, 1911, which has been communicated to me, it is stated that a resolution of the Hong Kong Legislative Council dealing with the question of Turkish and Persian opium may be introduced at a later date, and I should therefore be glad to learn whether, in your opinion, the prohibition of its importation into this colony is necessary,
I am,
&e.
E. GREY.
