Letter from His Majesty's Minister to the Ministry of Posts

I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that the Governor of Hongkong has addressed a despatch to me stating that, in accordance with a request contained in a telegram dated ad November 7 received by him from your Ministry, he at once stoppe the ordinary train service to Canton in terms of the Canton- Kowloon Railway Working Agreement.

The telegram in question was as follows:"Recently there have been robber outbreaks in all quarters of the Kwangtung province: and troops have been sent out in several directions for their suppression. The troops in their movements constantly use the Canton-Kowloon line, and have to use train for their transport. Under the terms of the Working Agreement in respect of the said line the running of trains has been temporarily rupa suspended from the afternoon of the 7th. instant at 1 p.m. to the afternoon of the 12th at 1 p.. for the sole purpose of transpor-

ting troops. The loss in earnings will be dealt with according to the Working Agreement. Please instruct officers in charge

to act accordingly."

In accordance with the Governor of Hongkong's request

matter.
