With reference to previous correspondence (dated
31st January and 31st August last year) on the subject of
the status of Shanghai Companies registered as British
Limited Liability Companies under the Hongkong Ordin-
ances, my Committee, who had the subject under considera-
tion at a meeting held here yesterday, desire me to say
that they would be much obliged if you would kindly afford
them any information as to the present position of
negotiations, and when it is thought they will be con-
cluded.
