A conference was held at this Office on September
12th, 1911, to consifer the question of the Registration
of British Companies in China at which the Board of
15, Trade were represented by Mr. Barnes, Comptroller of

The original proposel was that the branch registry
at Chenghai should receive applications for
Colonial Office, Cole, 1972.
incorpora-
tion, not in Hongkong but in London, but as the remilt
of the above Conference it was arranged that a similer
schame should be carried out by the Government of
Hongkong.
The Judge of His Majesty's Supreme Court was accordingly informed and instructed to furnish his
observations on the necessary legislation to put the
Acheme into effect.
